Product Quality Technician

Summary:
Horizon is seeking a Product Quality Technician to work in the Quality Control department. This position’s primary responsibilities are sample analysis, documentation and performing quality control testing for the Horizon Ag product lines. The position will conduct daily activities following established processes and protocols and will assist in data analysis and interpretation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to learning, strong problem-solving skills, effective and clear communication skills, a strong appreciation for accurate and precise measurements and a dedication to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Essential Functions:
Performs analyses of the chemical and physical properties of raw material and finished goods through testing
Maintains database and reports on results of all testing
Documents testing in certificate of analysis, certificate of composition and other relevant quality documentation
Responsible for the final product meeting company specifications
Assists in troubleshooting products that does not meet company specifications
Acts as site representative for Quality Management System (QMS)
Assists in ensuring adherence to ISO requirements
Perform tasks and inspections to ensure quality of final products
Maintains lab equipment and calibration schedules
Develops innovative alternative QC testing and sampling protocols
Analyzes and reports on Quality data as assigned
Willingness to travel up to 30% of time
Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another closely related field
Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, internal and external
Ability to focus on details with good observation skills
Analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong aptitude for data analysis and statistics and the application of these results
Additional:
Classification: Non-Exempt / Hourly, paid bi-weekly, benefits eligible
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6am-6pm (day shift)
