Irrigation Mechanic

Grit Resources is looking for a hardworking and dependable Irrigation Mechanic to join one of our clients! This is a physically demanding, hands-on position involving approximately 40 hours per week of outdoor work, including digging trenches, installing pipe, repairing and maintaining sprinkler heads, and working on commercial irrigation systems. The ideal candidate should be comfortable getting muddy and dirty and working outdoors in temperatures exceeding 100°F during the summer and cold weather during the winter. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with hours subject to change based on weather and seasonal conditions. Travel is not required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot commercial irrigation systems.
• Dig trenches and install irrigation pipe, sprinkler heads, valves, and related equipment.
• Operate appropriate tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively.
• Assist with the maintenance and operation of water wells and water tower systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, maps, and other written materials.
• Assist with irrigation infrastructure and campus improvement projects.
• Identify and troubleshoot irrigation system issues and make necessary repairs.
• Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Work collaboratively with team members to support facilities and grounds operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License required to operate company vehicles, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Trade school certificate in landscaping, plumbing, irrigation, or a related field preferred.
• GIS mapping experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical manuals, measurements, and other written materials.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and other equipment used in irrigation and maintenance work.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including digging, lifting, bending, and working outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
