Utility Plant Operator

Grit Resources is looking for a Utility Plant Technician to support the operation of steam and chilled water plant systems that keep campus operations running year-round. This hands-on position will assist with operating boilers, chillers, and cooling towers while monitoring equipment, conducting water testing, documenting operational data, and learning preventive maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operating boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and related plant equipment.
• Monitor and inspect equipment to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Conduct water testing and document operational data.
• Read and record information from gauges, meters, and other monitoring equipment.
• Learn and assist with preventive maintenance procedures.
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment and utility systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and equipment documentation.
• Follow established safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment readings, inspections, and testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support utility and facility operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License required to operate University vehicles, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to learn and follow operating procedures for boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and related utility equipment.
• Ability to read gauges, meters, and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document operational data.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Interest in utilities, facilities, maintenance, or industrial operations is preferred.
