Starting Salary: $59,521

About this Position
The Fiscal Analyst role is an accounting position within the Finance Department. The department is the official source of financial information for the city. Our main functions are preparation of annual budgets and annual audited financials that are available to the public. In our daily tasks, we maintain the general ledger, invest funds, perform internal audits, and assist other city departments and public citizens regarding financial information of the city. This role requires at least five (5) years of related experience, strong working knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to complete traditional accounting tasks.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred)
5 years of related experience and/or training
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial information
- Create, maintain, and prepare reports of daily accounting activities
- Review, record, verify, and reconcile City funds and accounts
- Troubleshoot accounting problems
- Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations based on data
- Confer, advise, and train on financial accounting best practices and procedures
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods
- Research and compile data to comply with federal, state, legal, and statutory financial reporting
- Participate in the development of the annual financial report and budget
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting rules, laws, and procedures
Necessary Skills
- Ability to apply GAAP and financial, accounting, and mathematical concepts
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
