About this Position
The Administrative Specialist II for Animal Services performs general clerical services, including maintaining financial records and associated paperwork, and related duties specific to the department. Work can be of a highly confidential in nature and involves the skilled use of a computer. This position is a great opportunity to make a difference in Edmond!
This position works 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with the occasional weekend as needed. Other options can be discussed but not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Interact with the public, employees, volunteers, etc. by phone and in-person
- Monitor the dispatch radio, dispatch officers, and contact employees by walkie-talkie
- Perform daily tasks involving animal adoption, release, surrender, and acquisition
- Help euthanize animals as necessary
- Handle money and daily deposits
- Maintain financial records and receipts
- Reconcile and submit credit card receipts to Purchasing
- Order veterinary supplies, office supplies, and general supplies
- Interact with and support volunteers and the volunteer program
- Maintain written records and monthly statistics for the Chameleon Program
- Maintain monthly statistics for the Animal Count program
- Maintain travel and training records for the department
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year of animal-related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must obtain euthanasia certificate from Oklahoma veterinarian board within one (1) year
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

- Ability to exercise trustworthy service, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work on weekends for special events
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
