Job Description: 

Under supervision, the Mental Health Tech provides peer support services; serves as an advocate; provides information and peer support for consumers in urgent care setting. This position is designated as an essential position and the employee's presence at work is required to assist the agency and/or division in meeting its operational needs. This position is not eligible to work remotely.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Utilizes knowledge, skills and abilities to teach and mentor the value of every individual's recovery experience; model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies; assist service recipients in articulating immediate stabilizing personal goals for recovery.

Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with supervisor and peers. Can effectively work within a team or group setting cohesively.

Attends and participates in treatment team and program development meetings to ensure continuity of care/consumer interest.

Monitors eligibility status and makes application for Social Security, Title XIX (Medicaid), QMB, and other benefits the client may qualify for and seeks to assist eligible clients in the Health Home Services.

Provides transportation when necessary for the consumers to become re-established in the community and with the NorthCare.

Support patients to recognize and utilize their own strengths, skills, talents, and ability to increase the patient's independence and self-sufficiency in the community. Support the patient in development and/or maintenance of relationships with family, friends, neighbors, and significant others in the community.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor and track outcome measures for client caseload.

Maintain clinical records in a timely manner, as required by agency policy, funding sources and accreditation authorities. Complete all required forms and maintains same in a manner consistent with requirements.

Responsible for maintaining strictest confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding consumer   and family information,

Return phone calls and cell text pages promptly. Check and respond to e-mail daily.

Complete all NorthCare required courses and trainings and complies with all agency policies and procedures.

Maintain consistent work attendance and contact supervisor on timely basis for needed late     arrivals or absences.

Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor and/or executive staff.

Qualifications

Employee/Candidate must meet the ODMHSAS criteria for Peer Recovery Support Specialist, which requires high school diploma or GED, knowledge in the area of mental health recovery and wellness, and be a current or former consumer of mental health services. This position requires a high degree of flexibility and efficiency. Must display proficiency in the MS Word processing software and intermediate general computer skills. Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally with English-speaking patients. Employee must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to move about facilities freely. Casual professional dress is required with adherence to dress code requirements.

Must have access to reliable transportation. Local travel is required. Must possess and provide verification of valid Oklahoma driver's license during employment with NorthCare. Must maintain and provide verification of current automobile liability insurance including uninsured motorist coverage. Must be COVID 19 vaccinated and follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID vaccination and Boosters.

Must have and/or complete all required trainings within 30 days of employment with NorthCare Must have TB test within 12 months prior to employment with NorthCare, or obtain within 30 days of employment with NorthCare.
