ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Golf Course Mechanic position performs skilled work to maintain and repair small diesel and gasoline engine equipment, automotive, and related golf equipment. They will use independent judgment to determine method of repair for general maintenance/repair to complete overhauls of small engines and other minor automotive or equipment repairs. This is a non-supervisory position with the exception of training new employees in the proper use of equipment, machinery, and power tools.

This role operates on a regular schedule but may include working outside of normal working hours, including weekends, holidays, and call back hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform maintenance on all turf equipment
  • Adjust and maintain reel units
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
  • Maintain maintenance records, proper inventory levels, and the organization of work area
  • Train new employees in the use of equipment
  • Perform cultural practices on the course as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2 years of related experience and/or training, including experience with metalworking and fabrication
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-6 months of management experience (people and/or project management)
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

NECESSARY SKILLS

  • Good mathematical ability
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain cutting units so they perform properly
  • Ability to diagnose electrical systems
  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of a turfgrass operation
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining cutting units
  • Ability and willingness to work after normal working hours, including weekends, holidays, and call back hours
  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
