Job purpose

The Equipment Specialist and Facility Coordinator is an individual contributor role with primary responsibility for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. The majority of daily tasks will involve hands-on technical work with production equipment. This role also supports occasional facility-related needs such as coordinating outsourced repairs, responding to building system issues, and maintaining outdoor spaces. By working closely with internal teams and service providers, this position helps minimize equipment downtime and supports a functional, compliant, and safe manufacturing environment.

Key duties and responsibilities

Repairs-Manufacturing Equipment and Facility

  • Provide direct support to Manufacturing staff by troubleshooting and resolving urgent issues with equipment or lab fixtures
  • Perform in-house repairs on equipment when possible and work with service vendors for external support
  • Organize and follow up on equipment and facility repairs to ensure completion meets company standards
  • Serve as the first point of contact for building-related issues, including facility systems and outdoor areas such as lawn and gardens

Maintenance – Manufacturing Equipment and Facility

  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance procedures for new equipment
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with schedule and procedures
  • Assist the Production Manager in implementing Operator Care tasks
  • Schedule and follow up on outsourced preventive maintenance activities
  • Support upkeep of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
  • Address outdoor safety or access issues such as lighting, pathways, or drainage
  • Participate in the 24/7 response team for critical system alarms

Facility Operations Support

  • Act as the first responder to environmental alarms, water filtration systems, liquid nitrogen and CO2 tanks, power outages, and biohazard pickups
  • Communicate repair updates to Manufacturing Leadership to minimize disruption
  • Secure the building during closures (e.g., holidays, weather events, weekends)
  • Coordinate with landscaping services to ensure the upkeep and aesthetic appeal of the facility’s exterior
  • Provide observations and suggestions regarding facility maintenance and improvement needs
  • Maintain records of equipment and facility issues, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • High mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; approachable and professional demeanor
  • Highly self-directed with attention to detail and a mindset for continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage personal workload independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to assist others and share knowledge in a team-oriented environment
  • Must effectively communicate with others, be approachable, have a positive and flexible attitude, display a strong work ethic, and demonstrate the ability and desire to teach others

Desired qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or 1+ year in manufacturing, equipment, or validation support
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, FDA, and ISO 9001/13485
  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
  • Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking contractors using translation tools
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs and working with equipment like Freeze Dryers, Centrifuges, and Pumps
