Description
Ford AV is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Bid Estimator (BE) to join our dynamic Bid Center team. The BE plays a critical role in some of Ford’s most high-profile projects by ensuring accurate and detailed cost estimates, including bills of materials and preliminary labor/travel costs. Reporting to the Bid Estimation Manager, the BE reviews specifications and plans, organizes project take-offs, and prepares estimates aligned with bid forms and related documents.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze project specifications and plans to prepare detailed and accurate bills of materials.
  • Develop comprehensive material cost estimates and preliminary labor cost projections, including in-shop, field installation, field engineering, and travel.
  • Organize take-offs and estimates in a format responsive to bid forms and documents.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all cost estimates and project documents.
  • Collaborate closely with the Bid Estimation Manager to meet project deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Prior experience or knowledge in construction and/or cost estimation.
  • Strong technical aptitude with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including typing/10-key, Microsoft Excel, and other related software.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with audio, video, and lighting systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, or similar).
  • Familiarity with bid preparation processes and reading specifications/plans.

Physical Requirements The physical requirements of this role play a pivotal role in ensuring job performance and success. In a typical office setting, the employee will communicate and engage with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental conditions. Although the role mainly takes place indoors, there might be occasional exposure to outdoor elements such as heat, cold and environmental elements.
