Behavioral Health Medical Assistant

Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health System (ASTHS) | Norman, Oklahoma

As a Behavioral Health Medical Assistant with the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health System, you will play an essential role in supporting providers, enhancing patient care, and contributing to positive health outcomes for individuals and families seeking behavioral health services.

This dynamic position offers the opportunity to work at our Shawnee and/or Little Axe-Norman locations, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Manager, you will assist providers during patient visits, ensure accurate and timely laboratory testing and reporting, and help maintain the efficient operation of behavioral health services. In addition to traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities, this role may provide opportunities to broaden your skills through a variety of clinical and administrative duties that support the overall mission of the health system.

Job Requirements: 
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree in Medical Assisting or other related area is desirable. Experience in lieu of education may be considered on a year for year match. 1-5 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Must have experience with phlebotomy. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy and the appearance and location of major organ systems such as the urinary track, digestive, and respiratory systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well with others. Computer literacy required. The ability to interact well with patients, staff and other agency professionals.
